Problem
Psilocybin is listed as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act, which means that it is considered to have a high potential for abuse and has no currently accepted medical use. This classification also makes it illegal to possess, distribute, or use psilocybin in the United States without proper authorization or exemption.
There has been a growing movement to re-examine the therapeutic potential of psilocybin and other psychedelic substances, and some research studies have been conducted to investigate their use for various medical and psychological conditions. Some clinical trials have shown promising results in using psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, addiction, and end-of-life distress in patients with terminal illnesses.
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring compound found in certain species of mushrooms, and it has been used for spiritual and medicinal purposes by indigenous cultures for centuries. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in using psilocybin as a holistic medicine for various physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
Some people use psilocybin as a holistic medicine for conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD. There is some preliminary evidence from small studies suggesting that psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy may be effective in treating these conditions. However, more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits and risks of psilocybin as a holistic medicine.
It’s important to note that psilocybin is a powerful psychoactive substance that can have profound effects on perception, cognition, and emotion. It should only be used under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, in a safe and controlled environment. Additionally, psilocybin is illegal under federal law in the US, and its use carries legal risks.
There are several problems associated with using psilocybin in the US, both from a legal and medical perspective.
From a medical perspective, psilocybin is a powerful psychoactive substance that can have both positive and negative effects on the mind and body. While some research studies have suggested that psilocybin may be effective in treating certain mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, more research is needed to fully understand its safety and effectiveness.
There are also potential risks associated with psilocybin use, such as hallucinations, paranoia, and confusion. These risks can be minimized by using psilocybin under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional in a safe and controlled environment.
Additionally, psilocybin can have interactions with other medications or medical conditions, which can pose a risk to the user’s health. It’s important for anyone considering using psilocybin as a medicine to consult with a healthcare professional and disclose any medical conditions or medications they are taking.

Solution
Any solution to using psilocybin as a holistic medicine in the US should prioritize the safety and well-being of patients and be based on rigorous scientific evidence.
The use of psilocybin as a holistic medicine in the US is a complex issue that requires a multi-faceted solution. Here are a few potential steps that could be taken:
- Conduct more research: There is a need for more research into the safety and efficacy of psilocybin as a medicine. Conducting well-designed clinical trials can help to determine the potential benefits and risks of psilocybin, as well as identify which conditions it may be most effective in treating.
- Reclassify psilocybin: Psilocybin’s Schedule I classification makes it difficult to conduct research and access the substance for therapeutic purposes. Reclassifying psilocybin to a lower schedule or removing it from the controlled substances list altogether could help to facilitate its use as a medicine.
- Create exemptions for medical use: The federal government could create exemptions for the medical use of psilocybin, allowing for its use in a controlled and regulated manner for certain conditions.
- Provide education and training: Healthcare professionals should receive training on the use of psilocybin as a medicine and how to manage the potential risks and side effects. Patients should also receive education on the risks and benefits of psilocybin before deciding to use it.
- Decriminalize or legalize psilocybin: Several cities and states in the US have already decriminalized or legalized psilocybin for medical or therapeutic purposes. Expanding these efforts to a national level could help to facilitate its use as a medicine and reduce legal risks.
Market
Psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms, has gained increasing attention for its potential to treat various mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and addiction.
Currently, Psilocybin is not approved as a medicine by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, there is growing interest in the potential therapeutic benefits of psilocybin, and clinical research is underway to investigate its use for conditions such as depression, anxiety, and addiction.
In recent years, there has been a growing movement towards the decriminalization and legalization of psilocybin for medical and therapeutic use. Several cities and states in the US have decriminalized psilocybin or are in the process of doing so, and some companies are exploring the development of psilocybin-based medicines.
Oregon has recently passed a ballot measure that decriminalizes the possession and personal use of small amounts of psilocybin mushrooms, as well as other drugs, and allows for the licensed administration of psilocybin-assisted therapy in certain circumstances.
Under the Oregon Psilocybin Services Act (Measure 109), licensed facilitators will be able to provide psilocybin-assisted therapy to individuals over the age of 21 who have received a diagnosis of a qualifying mental health condition. The law sets up a regulatory framework for the administration of psilocybin therapy, including training requirements for facilitators and limits on the amount of psilocybin that can be administered.
Currently, there are no regulations in Jamaica prohibiting the use of psilocybin. Jamaica’s government has never outlawed the hallucinogenic fungus and is now cultivating investors to build up its psychedelics industry, which according to one estimate, could be worth $8 billion globally by 2028.
As more research is conducted and regulatory barriers are addressed, the possibility exists that the market for psilocybin as a holistic medicine in the US could continue to grow. It is important to note that any use of psilocybin for medical or therapeutic purposes should be done under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional in a controlled and safe environment.
Jamaica now has at least four psilocybin-focused resorts, three of which opened recently as the government has warmed to psychedelics and encouraged private investment in the sector.
To get more locals involved in the industry, Jamaica Promotions Corporation (Jampro) has identified opportunities in cultivation, development of facilities that can process the fungus according to international standards, development of treatment facilities, and research and development.
Jampro intends to position Jamaica as a primary destination for research and development, particularly in using the mushroom for developing treatments and the potential for export.

Company Overview
Finally Detached was started right after the Covid pandemic to test the potential benefits of using psychedelics for mental health, which had gained increasing popularity. To do this legally, the founder, Gabriel Castillo created a church. Some organizations have used religious protections to legally use certain psychedelics in their rituals.
Finally Detached saw an opportunity to use this approach to explore the potential benefits of psychedelics for mental health while staying within the bounds of the law. The initial success of the concept led to the development of a specific way to work with magic mushrooms that guarantee success.
To comply with legal requirements, an LLC was set up and a church setting was adopted. The founder has now opened an LLC in Oregon to expand the business operations and build everything legitimately and “above board”. Gabriel Castillo is motivated and dedicated to the mission of Finally Detached, describing it as his soul’s purpose. With a warrior mentality, he is committed to executing the plan and taking the business to the next level.
Finally Detached is a young company with a unique approach to exploring the benefits of psychedelics for mental health.
